GBHF and Maison de Naissance focuses on providing access to high-quality maternal and infant care in rural Torbeck, Haiti. Open since 2004, the foundation embraces community empowerment as a way to provide culturally competent care with the goal of self-sufficiency and sustainability by 2024. The Maison de Naissance provides both community-based and home-based care to the women in the surrounding communities and sponsors mobile health clinics to reach underserved populations beyond Torbeck. The focus on community education includes prenatal care, infant vaccination programs, clean water, and sanitation, as well as family planning options that ensure continued health for women and their infants after delivery.
The Maison de Naissance clinic was heavily damaged by the August 2021 earthquake that devastated the area. GBHF is rebuilding stronger and better. The BEA Society has been honored to provide medical supplies throughout the pandemic and post-earthquake recovery so that much-needed care can continue during the rebuilding process.
